The Internet Access Service (IAS) is responsible for monitoring the quantity of downloads incurred by QUT students accessing the internet through QUT's firewall.
Every student is allocated a pre-defined amount of rolling internet access "quota" which is determined by the student's enrolment status. Any quota deducted from a student's account for internet usage on any particular day will be credited back to their IAS quota balance 30 days later.
For students who exhause their allocated internet quota within the current 30-day period, their internet access speed will be restricted to 28.8k (dial-up speed) until their current rolling period expires or they purchase more IAS quota at QUT Printing Services (QPS).
