How/when do I receive my study materials?

Material will be sent in one mailing at the beginning of the semester. The Unit Information booklet contains important information about the particular unit including:

  • Objectives,
  • Structure,
  • Mailing schedule,
  • Textbook requirements,
  • Assessment details,
  • Assignment topics,
  • Teleconferences (where applicable),
  • Study school requirements (where applicable),
  • Unit Coordinator/Lecturer contact details.
It is important to read this information carefully before you begin your study and to refer to it regularly throughout the semester. If you have not received all your study material by the end of the first week of semester or, for subsequent mailings, within one week of the advertised mailing date, you should contact External Studies immediately.

Please note, you cannot collect your material from External Studies.

It is important to remember that if you wish to make changes to your enrolment in an external unit after a semester has commenced, you should realise that you may receive your materials much later than other students and may be required to catch up on the time missed. Automatic extensions to assignment submission dates are not necessarily granted in such cases.

Textbooks

Books prescribed as texts should be purchased and are not normally available on loan from the library. A booklet called The Written Assignment has been prepared to help students with the writing and presentation of assignments. This is available from the QUT Bookshop.
The QUT Bookshop has branches on all campuses and stocks all prescribed texts with up-to-date information on their availability, and advice on whether there have been changes to previously published lists. Books may be ordered by telephone or by letter.
You can order your books online through QUT Virtual or from the Bookshop on your home campus. However if in doubt, you may contact the QUT Bookshop on the Kelvin Grove Campus.

Teleconferences

If you are enrolled in a unit which has a teleconference(s) you will be provided with the relevant information early in the semester. All queries should be directed by email to qut.externalstudies@qut.edu.au or by phone 3138 3235
